The hackers are asking for some sort of ransom which as of yet has been unspecified. The hacking hasn’t been traced back to anyone, although Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) states that there are insinuations that it has been launched by North Koreans.

The administration of North Korea hasn’t replied to Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE)’s doubts. The hackers stated on Sony (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) Corp’s website that it will release the confidential files and information if their demands were not met. This is not the first large case of cybercrime this year as earlier Apple’s systems were hacked and iCloud accounts of famous personalities were jeopardized. In Sony (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) Corp’s case, it is the company’s private data that is at stake.

Some months ago Google’s system was breached in Russia and millions of Gmail accounts were leaked on internets that were still in use. Cybercrime has been on the rise and this year was evidence of that fact. It’s high time that these companies beef up the security on their websites, blogs, social media because there is just too much at stake.
