Sao Paulo To Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL) Google’s First North American Startups Campus Next Month

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL)’s Google is set to launch its first startup campus in South American region. This startup will be located in Sao Paulo and is expected to start operations next month. The venue is supposed to be a mix of the new venture, coworking space, and networking center while in the process offering seminars and courses in the digital startup scene.

The opening of this campus will lead to a total of six Google startups campuses around the world. The first campus was launched in London during 2012. It was then followed by a campus in Tel Aviv and another one in Seol. Last month, a campus was opened in Madrid. This fifth Campus will be in Warsaw while the sixth is the Sao Paulo campus. Apart from this already established and projected campuses, Google aims to spread this campuses around the globe.

Google has been particularly interested in opening these campuses since it started as a startup in a garage about 17 years ago. This is what Google for Entrepreneurs director Mary Grove stated. She also went ahead to say that they believe in empowering the next generation of startups. Their primary goal is to foster entrepreneurs around the world.

These campuses usually provide spaces for startups to learn as they work. Partners are often brought to offer café services. Each campus has ample event space where groups can use them on a free of charge basis. Co-working desk spaces can be rented. These campuses usually have about 20,000 square feet of space and approximately 200 desks. The membership to join the campuses is free.

The Sao Paulo hub will be led by Andre Barrence. He previously managed Seed – one of the country’s highest-profile government, which backed startup acceleration scheme. The scheme was restructured after the state of Minas Gerais witnessed a change in its governor.

Google reported that it expected this campus to start its operation after in mid-February after the Carnival. Parties interested in it are advised to sign up online to get an opportunity to be selected as members and use the facility. Currently, it is not clear who will be carrying out the selection since Google never directly involved in this
