122

The awaited Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Lumia 650 smartphone is rumored to be going on sale in Germany the coming month. The Lumia 650 will end the series and have a low profile launch as Microsoft focuses on its Surface Phone. The Matte black color version of the Lumia 650 will be available with O2 Germany and will be priced at EUR 219.

The Lumia 650 is a mid-range smartphone and boasts of a 5-inch 720-pixel display. It will feature a quad-core QUALCOMM, Inc.(NASDAQ:QCOM)’s Snapdragon 210 processor as well as 1 GM of RAM. There exist 8 GB of internal storage that can be increased through its microSD slot. Also, on offer are an 8 megapixels and 5-megapixels rear camera and front camera respectively. One of the highlights of the gadgets is a 2000 mAh removable battery. This smartphone comes with a premium metal frame and color choices of Matte White and Matte Black. The other features expected on the smartphone are Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, Wi-Fi calling, HD voice and dual-SIM configurations.

Microsoft China may have disclosed the name of the company’s next smartphone in a video put on social media. The video does not mention the Lumia Phone X till the description. The new Lumia is listed along with the Lumia 950/XL and Acer Jade Primo both of which are presently on the market.

The video describes Continuum a new feature incorporated in Windows 10 that permits a smartphone work like a PC. The software consumes a lot of hardware resources as the phone is operating a full version of Windows 10. Just two phones- Jade Primo and the Lumia 950 can run in Continuum mode implying that the Lumia Phone X is a high-end smartphone.

Microsoft is ending the Lumia brand name which originated from Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK). The Surface Phone that adopts the branding of Lumia series may be its replacement.

The company is presently scrutinizing its phone business that accounts for 1.7% of the global market. As per CEO Satya Nadella, the company is not bothered if few folk use the software. However, Microsoft may want to develop a phone targeted at businesses.
