Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) ropes in Docker to strengthen their position
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has entered into a partnership with Docker which will enable the users to create Docker container applications that will run on the Windows server. Docker has been growing rapidly for the past year or so and the only hurdle it has been facing was of legitimacy, until now. Customers appreciated the growth of Docker and the deal with Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will certainly bring them legitimacy and a lot more.
For those who aren’t acquainted with Docker- it is an open platform for developers and system admins to build and run distributed applications. Docker uses containers to enable applications so they can be run at once on the same server. The terms of agreement decided are that Docker engines open source runtime for creating and formulating containers which will work with the next version of Windows Server. There are many demoralizers out there who have been rooting against Dock ever since it surfaced, but this deal confirms the fact that Dock is not to be underestimated in any condition.
If its rapid growth wasn’t a sign of the things to come, this deal certainly is as Docker is taking the helm as the default application-centric platform for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). This is exactly the same thing what the virtual machines have offered to the infrastructure driven world. This partnership will bring Docker to the limelight for the world to see. Standing side by side with a renowned and powerful corporation such as Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), Docker must be certain of a good future by now.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced the deal stating that backing up Dockers and Linux is a small step when it comes to demonstrate their commitment to give the users an open platform, open to their choice. Docker will provide support to the growing Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) cloud platform called Azure. The Docker container driven Windows Server doesn’t really have an official release date but it is expected to come out early next year.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), earlier this month, made a preview of their new Windows Server, alongside technical preview of the Windows 10 client. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is desperate for a comeback as Windows 8 didn’t strike the fancy of users. It lacked the ingenuity and simplicity of the previous version. It was also very pretentious. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) had desperately tried to be innovative but it was a botched attempt. Perhaps they have realized now that the key aspect has always been simplicity- which was lacking in Windows 8.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is also facing tough competition from Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Mac computers. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be launching and updating new Mac systems in a couple of days. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) must gear up for the challenge and strike a couple of more beneficial deals so that it regains its position- a position which now belongs to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). As far as Docker is concerned, their position keeps getting stronger and stronger.
