History has revealed that regardless of having a strong brand image, Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) is still looked upon as weak when it comes to graphic designs. The company has noted its weakness and is working towards a better graphic experience for the future with bringing in better graphic architectures along with freeing more chips space. Its recent development of Core M, an atom processor named Cherry Trail is placed to help enhance graphics performance.
But it’s yet to be determined how successful and competitive Cherry Trail Atom really is. These estimates will help produce Intelligence for the future of Next Generation Tablets and low cost PCs as both will have Cherry Trail architecture embedded in them. Looking at the specifics of Cherry Trail include:
- Core M and Cherry Trail specifics: Core M specifications include 24 Gens and 8 execution units, with graphic blocks being run at 850 MHz. Whereas Cherry Trail has a 16 Gen, 8 executive units and a speed lower then Core M, with its graphic blocks bring run at 800 MHz. So what exactly does this mean?
- When we conduct a performance test on Unlimited 3D Mark Ice Storm (graphics), using different Soc like Interl Core M 5Y70, , Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) Atom Z3770 “Bay Trail”, AMD A10 Micro-6700T “Mullins”, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 and NVIDIA Tegra K1 and the Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) Cherry Trail PROJECTED we witnessed that Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) Cherry and Tegra K1 are close together, standing way ahead of Snapdragon and Mullins.
But both these Soc have the tendency to stand in competition with Cherry Trail and with the right upgrades beat it as well; NVIDIA could upgrade Tegra K1 with an update of 20 nanometer. AMD also has plans to upgrade its low cost tablet with 20 nanometer design, another potential threat for Cherry Trail.
- A lot of hopes are attached with Cherry Trail’s performance in tablets but Cherry Trail still isn’t considered a world beater. It is a size of less than 50 square millimeter and it could become a very demanding piece when it comes to mainstream components and performance of the tablet market.
- In terms of PC, Cherry Trail could bloom and be a prime improvement. Intel (NASDAQ: INTC)’s Trail M and Trail D are high in demand for its low cost despite the deficiency in graphics. If Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) could resolve this deficiency by Cherry Trail and still produce at a low cost then it could generate large revenues for the company.
Even though all these figures are based on speculations and predictions of the existing market condition, but if these mere guesses could be manifested so that Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) uses Cherry trail in its low cost tablets then Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) surely can count on a good wrap for 2015. Only time will tell how Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) plans to play Cherry Trail in the market and just how effective it would be.
