Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co (NYSE:HPE) Welcomes Former Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Executive To Its Board
Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co (NYSE:HPE) has announced that it has selected a new board member who was a former executive at Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT).
The PC manufacturing company appointed Maggie Wilderotter to take up the position. She also holds the executive chairman position at Frontier Communications Corp (NASDAQ:FTR) and has held the Chief Executive position in the firm from 2006 to 2015. Before joining Frontier, she held the senior VP position at Microsoft.
Wilderotter’s portfolio has earned her a lot of recognition. She is also a board member of other firms including Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST), Juno Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:JUNO) and Dreamworks Animation Skg Inc (NASDAQ:DWA).
Hewlett-Packard officially disintegrated into two firms towards the end of last year. Wilderotter was the first board member to be selected. The total board member count is 13. The firm had received a lot of praise from activist Jesse Jackson for upholding diversity in the two boards. So far there are five women board members.
Seven of the thirteen directors are from HP while the rest have been selected from outside the firm. Hewlett Packard’s previous board of directors had acquired quite the reputation for sacking at least, three CEOs from the company from 2005 to 2011. The board is also known for rough proxy battles over key acquisitions. The board also had a spying scandal at one point.
