Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Hangouts Updates

According to latest news, the Hangouts app for Android under the Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) trademark has undergone some major updates on Wednesday. The move was confirmed by Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) + VP of Product, Bradley Horowitz at LaWeb conference yesterday morning, in Paris. While some of these features have been introduces for the fun part of it, there are others that make the function easier to use, in addition to providing a first look into what Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has planned for this service in the future.

The fun features include some sticker pages that appear by default once related texts is typed in to the chat window. Other festive related features, relating to Easter and Christmas have been included. Other features, that have become norm to other chat platforms as well, have been included. Among the most obvious ones are the filter application to video chats. These come in black, white, vignette and sepia options.

While these may not seem dramatic changes, there are other that have added smart features to the Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Hangouts. One such example is an automated prompt that asks to respond to user location query by revealing exact user location on Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) map lookalike platform. Furthermore, users can also change their exact location if they don’t wish for anyone to know where they are. In addition to this, another feature enables analysis of conversations in order to provide users automatically built quick replies.

The new ‘last seen’ timestamp will allow users to view when their contacts are online. Furthermore, to have all contacts in one place, phone contacts can also be incremented in to this list.

While Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) brings together the text messages and the Hangouts chat tools, in to single application, there is an added ‘smart’ factor to it. And even though, most of these features are nothing new to users, Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s implementation of them is more impressive than other tech companies. For instance, the location feature is quite common and a lot of tech platforms have introduced it, but the Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) visual of it is much smarter, crispier and clearer.

Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s enhanced programing processing algorithms provide a very smart experience to features that, even though are quite commonly used on the internet made available by other companies; never fail to stand out when in competition with rivals and peers.

Where a simple query ‘where are you?’ enables user to inform of their exact locations, it is likely that queries, such as ‘are you free?’ might prompt users to send an automated reply based on information gained from Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Calendar. Hence, there are several options to manipulate it further.

These features may seem insignificant to some, but users appreciate tidbits of updates every now and then. A new look with New Year points to renewed beginnings and eradicate stagnancy that bores users. As user internet time has hiked drastically, it is important for tech companies to gear up as even a little effort gets noticed and is a cause of user pleasure.
