Golden Master Version Announced by Apple Inc (AAPL) and Home Launcher Unveiled by Facebook Inc (FB)
Notice on the developer site of Apple says that the Golden Master or GM version of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s OS X 10.9 has been given to all Apple’s registered developers today. The GM version will also be released to the public soon. A GM version of Xcode 5.0.1 has also been issued; it is an important component for developing OS X 10.9 apps, which will be featured in the Mac App Store.
The announcement of the launch of OS X 10.9 – also called Mavericks in iOS 7 – was made at the Worldwide Developers Conference back in June. This is not a complete revamp of iOS 7; it features the “finder”, which allows the user to easily organize files; it also offers changes, which allows for more useful setups for multiple monitors. The GM also offers timer coalescing, APP Nap and compressed memory. App Nap helps to increase the phone’s battery life and decrease its resource usage.
Apple has not made any formal announcement for the availability and pricing of Mavericks, but it is expected that it will be launched by the end of this month (October). Apple is expected to organize an unveiling event in the mid of October to reveal its revamped iPads and Mavericks along with the new Retina MacBook Pros equipped with Haswell and probably its redesigned Mac Pro. There is also a possibility that announcement for Mavericks could be made sometime during the earnings calls of fourth quarter of the current year. Mavericks are compatible with every Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s Mac that use OS X 10.8.
Home launcher designed for devices powered with Android was launched by Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) earlier in 2013. This feature offered limited functions and therefore was subjected to mixed reviews. Home is now being offered to other services, such as Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr and Flicker. Home can only be enjoyed by the users who use Facebook for Android Beta; the feature will soon become available to all operating systems.
Home launcher figures out how your lock screen, home screen and other components look. By using this Home you can also interact with Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) without opening the application, the user only has to double tap the post to do this. The lock screen will show you floating images and news feed you’re your Facebook page.
