American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.32% higher at 133.40 on the BNY Mellon Europe ADR Index on Friday.
In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm ERYTECH Pharma (ERYP), and medical equipment maker Edap (EDAP), which climbed 7.6% and 6.1% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company argenx (ARGX), and semiconductor company STMicroelectronics (STM), which rose 4.5% and 2.8%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT), and telecommunications operator Telefonica (TEF), which fell 1.9% each. They were followed by internet browser company Opera (OPRA), and semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS), which were off 1.8% and 0.9% respectively.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by Trinity Biotech (TRIB), and insurance firm Prudential (PUK), which rose 8.4% and 3% respectively. They were followed by public relations firm WPP (WPP), and biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), which were up 2.2% and 2%.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by specialty pharmaceutical company Midatech Pharma (MTP), and pharmaceutical firm Avadel (AVDL), which lost 10.9% and 5.6% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operators Vodafone Group (VOD), and BT Group (BT), which dropped 2.8% and 1.8%.
