Disney Up 6.8% Pre-Bell After Unveiling Streaming Service Disney Plus

Disney (DIS) shares were up 6.8% pre-bell Friday after unveiling its plans to launch a $6.99-a-month streaming service in November.

The price point is below Netflix’ cheapest plan at $9 a month. Also, Disney will no longer offer content on Netflix, after 2019. Disney projected 60 million to 90 million subscribers by 2024 for the streaming service, dubbed “Disney+”

The service will launch with 10 original films in the first year, and 25 TV series, including three spinoffs from “The Avengers.”

All 30 seasons of “The Simpsons” animation TV series will available, as well as other Disney and Fox content, including the “Star Wars” cinematic sagas. More than 7,500 episodes of old Disney-branded TV serials will also available.
