Last month proved to be quite happening for Chinese mobile market, as Apple (NASDAQ:APPL) released its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models in China. This has attracted interest of the analysts as they have already started keeping a close eye on the availability of models in the market. Operational results were made available by 3 major mobile carriers in October and analysts are already in a spur trying to figure out what these results will actually mean for Apple (NASDAQ:APPL). it’s still early to estimate how many mobile phones have been sold by Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:APPL) in China yet, but analysts tried to get an estimate of the numbers in October, by collecting data from China’s three biggest carriers and evaluated, to see if there was a market for Apple (NASDAQ:APPL) smartphones in Chinese industry.
In order to see what was the market for 3G/4G subscribers in the Chinese market, Aaron Rakers and his team published a report on Nov. 20, 2014, according to which, by the end of October there were 1.282 billion mobile subscribers in China and of those subscribers, 558.8 million or 43.6% were 3G/4G subscribers.
But China’s local mobile brands are showing very positive results as well, and have a very strong market hold in the industry. China Mobile Ltd (NYSE:CHL) last month, had a total of 801.4 million subscribers, where as in September the number was 799.1 million subscribers; a further step up from last year’s 759.3 million. China Mobile Ltd (NYSE:CHL) is the largest mobile carrier with 54.45 million 4G subscribers. There has been an increase in the 4G subscribers, as the numbers were 28.8 and 40.95 in August and September respectively.
These numbers do show a strong mobile market in China for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and also for China’s local mobile industry, but it is still difficult to determine yet how many of iPhone 6 and 6 plus models were sold. But, by looking at reports of the 20 million reservations and orders for new iPhone 6 models, it shows that there is a potentially strong market for Apple (NASDAQ:APPL) phones in China.
Even though, there is not much information on iPhone 6 market in China, Stifels team of investors are trying to see if there is a strong demand for the iPhone 6 models by looking at the probability of availability of new iPhones in the Chinese market. But analysts will have to sit tight and wait to get the numbers, as according to Apples Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) website it takes almost 7 to 10 working days for delivering the iPhone 6 models in China. But the delivery time iPhone 6 plus is 3 to 4 weeks. This may seem a complication for apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), as its managements has reported that during the current quarter of the fiscal year, it may not be possible for the company to attain a balance in supply and demand chain due to the inventory levels which remain under their target of 4 to 6 weeks for the current channel.
