Rumors and news concerning the second-generation Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch have started to flow. Just like when Apple announced its first generation Watch is September 2014, excitement levels have started to rise, and this has resulted in the circulation of rumors and news concerning what is expected. Some of the concepts, which people are trying to predict, are the releases date and also design, features, and specifications.
Most people had expected that Apple Watch 2 was to be announced during the March event, but this is not the case. The March Event will focus on new bands for the Apple Watch. Some of the expected bands include sports strap in a different color, Hermes bands, a black Milanese Loop band and a band made up of a totally new material.
9to5Mac’s well-connected Mark Gurman stated Apple Watch 2 will arrive in the fall. A report from Commercial Times in Taiwan suggested that Apple Watch 2 productions might start at the end of January in Quanta’s factories. The report stated that production had started earlier than expected. Chairman of Quanta Computer, Barry Lam had in an interview accidentally said that production has already begun, and launch should be expected in the second quarter of 2016. All these are rumors though they point at an announcement during the fall.
The next generation of Apple Watch will definitely feature more expensive models. The company is exploring between $1000 stainless steel Apple Watch and $10,000 18-karat gold edition. The material, which will be used to make the Apple Watch casing and strap, will dictate its price.
Apple is also expected to unveil a rumored, new multi-function band during the March event. This multi-function Watch is named Magnetic Wristband. The Watch will feature a set of magnets embedded in allowing the two sides to join. This means the magnet is responsible for holding the Apple Watch in place, but when the Watch is removed, the new band comes into its own.
Apple is also planning to add a FaceTime video camera to Apple Watch 2. It will make possible to make and receive FaceTime call via the Watch. Also, rumors have it that Apple is working with both LG Display Co Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:LPL) and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005930) to produce thinner OLED display for these Watches.
