Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) analysts have created waves all across the tech world by saying that the high end Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) watches, especially the gold one can cost about $5000 going up to 10,000 dollars; minimum price of the top range being 2000 dollars. The prices are quite high for devices that are first of all first generation and second that they’ll grow worthless in the next 5 years. Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has already announced the starting price of the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) watch which is 350 dollars.
Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s gold watch is made of real gold so we can’t expect anything less than 5000 dollars. But here’s the catch: technology dwindles and becomes obsolete as time goes on. If it was a fancy diamond studded watch from Rolex, it would have twice the purchase price but it would have stayed of that value or probably grown more in value as a collector’s item down the years. But with the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch, even if it’s gold, it’s still technology and technology is surely replaced.
There is an idea that can make the watch justify its heavy price. What if Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) makes the chip that powers the watch replaceable? Then the watch could grow with every upgrade and hence become famous as a first model over time, and also become a collector’s piece. This can however provide a problem for Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL). Why would anyone want to buy a new model if it comes out? All they’ll do is replace the chip and the software system will become new. So it’s a tricky situation for Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL).
Also, we’d be naïve to think that Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) only changes the outside surface of their devices. Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) also makes big changes to the inside of the device which means that no matter how brilliant that golden watch is, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) would deliberately want it to become old when they come out with a new watch technology. The debate, over the large price tag that is to come with the watches, has been swarming over the internet for quite some time now.
Amidst the curiosity, people have already started to criticize the feared heavy price that is anticipated to come. Customers showed reservations on social media claiming that what good would a wearable device do which is priced way beyond its worth and would be obsolete in a couple of years. The chip replacement idea is good for the customers but bad for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) sales overall. Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s watch is placed on a single chip, which can be replaced but what if the shape of the chip has to be changed? If not that than even chip replacement would be equivalent to the servicing which is required by your luxury watches…so $500 every few years would have to be spent on the chip replacement, whenever new watch technology comes out! But of course all of this is speculation…only time will tell!
