Recently, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been taking desperate measures to save its iPad series. The constant slump of the iPad series since past couple of years has been quite nerve-racking for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). This year Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) released a couple of iPads, which were definitely better than the predecessors, although there wasn’t anything of substantial nature in them; or nothing to make an impact as they once did back in 2010. Now the company is giving one last shot to the iPad series, by launching iPad air plus which is said to be bigger and better than every tablet on the market.
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad Air Plus will be sporting 12.2 inch screen along with a next generation A9 processor. The tablet will be fancied by those who appreciate music because it comes with 4 speakers, which will provide a definite edge to the stereo sound. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad air plus will launch somewhere mid 2015.
The tablet won’t be as thin as the iPad Air 2, but it’ll have an adequate size which quite a moderate width. The tablet will cater to those people who are making a transition from laptops to tablets. Although, tablets haven’t beefed up to the quality of laptops, iPad Air plus will shorten the distance. There is also news that iPad Air plus will come with a retina display, complimenting the large 12.2 inch screen.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been searching for an iPad that will rejuvenate the whole series. It’s no secret that the category is in jeopardy. There are concerns that the success of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch will eclipse iPads forever, that the category will be lost in obscurity. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) wishes to make big sales with both Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch and iPad series. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not giving up on the iPad series, and that is why it has brought iPad Air Plus into the contention. Word around is that iPad Air Plus will cover up for all the loose ends that were there in the previous tablets.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini 4 will be released next year with the same A8X processor and a thinner design. After the release of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini 4, iPad mini and iPad mini 3 will be discontinued permanently. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is putting a lot of stake upon these two new iPads because these are the tablets that hold the key to revive the category and save it from diminishing completely.
Back in 2010, the first iPad made a large impact on the market and people expected it to transcend iPhone’s popularity. That didn’t happen and eventually the sales became so low that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) started to worry about the category’s future. Let’s just hope Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) manages to pull back the category from the depths of obscurity and iPads become a market sensation once again.
There is simply too much at stake for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and the loss of the iPad category will mean a major cut in sales.
